Job Description

IRB Administrator: The IRB Administrators are the senior position within the IRB office. The Administrators are responsible for review of all initial submissions to the IRB. For studies requiring full board review, the Administrator assures that all of the information necessary to reach a decision is provided to the board. For studies eligible for expedited approval, the Administrator conducts the review and approves the study once the criteria for approval have been met. For Exempt and Not Human Subjects research, the Administrator makes the determination. The IRB administrators serve as a resource for the investigator community as well as for other IRB staff.

Required Skills

The position requires a Masters degree and a minimum of two years of IRB experience and two years as a research coordinator. Additional experience can substitute for the degree requirement. Certification as an IRB Professional (CIP) is required with 1 year of hiring.
