Brookline Bancorp, Inc. Learning and Development Specialist in Boston, Massachusetts

Principal Objective

Responsible for developing, implementing and facilitating employee training programs. Support all areas of the Corporation including retail branches, corporate, systems, new account, product, procedure, fraud/security, and general customer interaction training. This position will assess training needs and requests and will determine the most effective method to meet each need; including the identification and review of external vendors.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create, schedule and conduct training of newly hired and promoted teller and platform staff. Provide on-going training to existing retail employees.

  • Designs training programs including classroom training, online courses, and self-study sessions.

  • Research, recommend and/or develop training courses to meet a variety of needs throughout the Corporation.

  • Implement and coordinate all activities related to various training courses offered including course and instructor scheduling, communicating with participants, creating or ordering materials and maintaining inventory and ensuring room set-up.

  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of bank systems and operations for the purpose of building and/or delivering training programs.

  • Evaluate training, including trainer evaluation, program content and job performance.

  • Create and deliver new employee orientation and employee on-boarding program.

  • Track participation in all training programs including online training.

  • Assist the Learning & Development Manager in assessing bank-wide training needs and develop programs that align with the corporate vision.

  • This position is accountable for tracking participation, maintaining program content that is consistent with bank procedures and professional training standards and for routine decisions.

Job Specifications (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required)

  • College degree or the equivalent work experience.

  • A minimum of 2 - 4 years of previous training experience.

  • Must have demonstrated presentation and program design skills and proven ability to work with adult learners.

  • Must be able to work effectively with all levels of bank employees and to maintain trust, credibility and cooperation.

  • Requires strong Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Access) to develop training manuals and materials.

  • A team player that can demonstrate prior success within a highly collaborative, team-oriented process.

  • Proven organizational skills; implementing multiple priorities and plans.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including advanced presentation skills.

  • Experience with Adobe eLearning Studio & Adobe Captivate a plus.

  • Travel within the New England area is required.
