The Department of Biology at Boston University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer beginning January 1, 2021, renewable based on satisfactory performance.

We seek a colleague with a commitment to undergraduate education and a track record of excellence in teaching. Teaching responsibilities include 4 lecture and/or lab-based courses per year in the areas of introductory biology, cell biology, and molecular biology. The successful candidate will have a PhD in biology or a related field, and experience with evidence-based teaching practices and incorporating research into teaching. The position will involve active engagement in the academic life of the Biology program, such as serving as an academic advisor to a cohort of undergraduate biology majors, coordinating student peer-mentoring programs, developing curricular materials, serving as a research mentor for undergraduates, participating in Senior Thesis, Master’s or PhD committees, and contributing to the development of academic initiatives. The Department of Biology believes that the cultural and social diversity of our faculty, staff, and students is vitally important to the distinction and excellence of our research and academic programs. Thus, we are especially eager to recruit a new colleague who supports our institutional commitment to ensuring BU is inclusive, equitable, and diverse. Please submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, and diversity statement to https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/17018. In the diversity statement, applicants should provide evidence of a commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusive excellence, and evidence of participation in the creation of inclusive environments in their department/workplace. Also arrange for three letters of reference to be submitted through the same website. Review of applications will begin October 15, 2020 and will continue until the position is filled. Inquiries about the position can be addressed to Dr. Frank Naya at fnaya@bu.edu.
