COLLEGE COACH Summer Internship: Medical Education Intern

Who we are

Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) is currently ranked as the #1 children’s hospital in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. BCH also offers a specialized programs and services, including cariology, neurology, oncology, and orthopedics. The opportunity

The College COACH summer internship is a paid program running from Monday, June 9-Friday, August 8, 2025. In addition to on-the-job training and work experience, the program includes workshops and additional development programs. College students will work 35 hours/week.

OPEN Pediatrics, within the Center for Educational Excellence & Innovation, is a department that creates educational videos, podcasts, simulators and courses for physicians, nurses, and med students. Our group has medical illustrators, videographers, voice actors, video editors, and administrative staff that all work together produce educational content. Our team works closely with the Center of Education where we create continuing education courses, innovate our approach to teaching, and value creativity and collaboration.

What you’ll do

Our intern will work closely with various members of our team to tackle administrative responsibilities:

  • They may be working with our social media team to enhance our posts and align our YouTube videos branding.

  • They may assist the medical illustrators and animators to document their work and organize it within a new program.

  • They will also have the opportunity to shadow some physicians on our team if they have an interest in medicine in the future.

  • Our Coach intern may work closely with each member of our team to assist with roles that may be one day of work or stretch over their entire stay with us.

  • This position is hybrid, 1-2 days onsite.

What you’ll get

  • Our intern will have learned more about organization, branding, file sharing and education within the hospital.

  • They will have a better understanding of the process of filming a video, editing, the various stages of peer review before publishing.

  • They may also better understand the educational need of physicians and nurses globally.

Who you are

  • You are an undergraduate college student interested working in healthcare

  • Microsoft office knowledge is preferred.

  • Organization, and punctuality.

  • Friendliness.

  • Ability to have a few tasks at a time, knowing that we will help them prioritize which ones to work on.

  • An eagerness to learn is a plus, as we will be able to educate them quite a bit on our processes and how it works to create peer reviewed content and publish it both locally and for a global audience.

Recruitment process

  • Internship opportunities: We aim to have all summer internship opportunities posted by February 28. They will be posted on a rolling basis as managers determine their availability to host an intern.

  • Resume review & interviews: Applications will be screened, forwarded to managers as appropriate, and interviews will be scheduled.

  • Offer decision: We will follow up within one week of your interview.

  • Onboarding: Those selected for the internship program will complete onboarding by May to ensure a smooth start to the program.
