The opportunity

The College COACH summer internship is a paid program running from Monday, June 9-Friday, August 8, 2025. In addition to on-the-job training and work experience, the program includes workshops and additional development programs. College students will work 35 hours/week.

The intern will work in a research lab focused on applying machine learning to neuroimaging and neurocognitive data, particularly in congenital heart disease (CHD) patients. The lab combines computational techniques with medical data to improve understanding and prediction of neurocognitive outcomes.

What you’ll do

  • Preprocess and analyze MRI and non-MRI data using Python/ML frameworks.

  • Develop and test machine learning models for neurocognitive score prediction.

  • Perform data imputation, feature selection, or clustering as needed.

  • Collaborate in weekly research meetings and document progress.

  • Write reports and prepare findings for potential publication.

  • This position is hybrid.

Who you are

  • You are an undergraduate college student interested working in healthcare

  • Technical: Python, machine learning (scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch), data handling (Pandas, NumPy), basic statistics.

  • Interpersonal: Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and in teams, good communication skills.

This hybrid internship provides flexibility while ensuring hands-on research experience. Strong performers may have opportunities for co-authorship in publications.
