PATIENT CARE INSTRUCTOR

RESPONSIBILITIES

Instruction responsibilities:

  • Update and instruct medical/ health insurance curriculum

  • Provide oversight of medical/ health insurance business simulation and coordinate with other specializations

  • Maintain and build new relationships with industry contacts

  • Collect, enter all data for trainee progress, attendance and case notes

  • Instruct core computer skills: including, but not limited to, basic Windows, Word, email, internet, and customer service using existing curriculum

Client support responsibilities:

  • Provide professional guidance and resources for 5-8 trainees per cycle

  • With the other members of the instructional team, work with Trainees to develop their job skills and career plans

  • Assist trainees with resume preparation

  • Match and support trainees in appropriate internships

  • Lead job placement assistance for Interns during latter portion of training, including providing 1:1 help to research job openings and write cover letters

Other Duties responsibilities:

  • Support Intake and Graduate services in working with applicants and graduates

  • Share team wide administrative duties

  • Complete required YMCA trainings

Requirements

EDUCATION AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Prior experience in Medical Office or Health Insurance required

  • Experience teaching adult learners a strong plus

  • Strong MS Office skills and familiarity with web based office technology required

  • Familiarity with the job search process

  • Strong organization, writing and proofreading skills

  • Communication skills, professionalism, patience, and flexibility

  • Able to work effectively and respectfully with diverse, multi-cultural population

  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
