The Department of Pediatrics at the Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) and Boston Medical Center is seeking a board-eligible/board certified Pediatric Endocrinologist for appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor of Pediatrics. We seek an enthusiastic candidate eager to engage in clinical practice, teaching and research at an academic urban medical center. The successful candidate for this position will join a team with a pediatric endocrinologist, an endocrine nurse, a nutritionist, and a mental health professional in an expanding service. The position involves the provision of ambulatory clinical services, inpatient consult services and the teaching and supervision of medical students and residents at Boston Medical Center, the major teaching affiliate of Boston University School of Medicine. There is opportunity for collaboration with the Internal Medicine Endocrinology Division and clinical supervision of internal medicine endocrinology fellows.
This is an outstanding opportunity for qualified candidates to participate and take a leading role in the expansion of patient care, teaching, and clinical research missions related to endocrinology and diabetes, in the Department of Pediatrics. Our division offers a comprehensive Type 1 Diabetes Program, a multidisciplinary Type 2 Diabetes Program and an Adolescent Transgender Program. Strong clinical skills and an interest in practicing in an academic urban environment are required. BMC serves a large urban population with complex medical and non-medical factors influencing health outcomes – candidates must be interested in working with our diverse population as a member of a comprehensive care team.
The Department of Pediatrics has 110 faculty members and offers a full range of pediatric subspecialty care. The Division of Endocrinology currently includes 2 faculty members, contracted physicians and a multidisciplinary clinical team. The Endocrinology Division works closely with colleagues in primary care and other specialties to provide coordinated comprehensive care and wrap around services to our patients and their families.
The Pediatric Department is a center of excellence for care of children in an urban setting with over 65,000 ambulatory visits per year. Boston University Medical Campus comprises Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center. The Medical School and Hospital are physically connected and professional hospital staff are on faculty at BUSM. Boston Medical Center is located in Boston’s Historic South End District and provides care to a large urban population with a strong connection to our community health center network.
