The Instructor and Coordinator of Public Health Practice for the Master of Public Health program oversees the development of the public health practice experience for graduate MPH students; works with the public health team to meet CEPH accreditation requirements, and meets service and scholarship goals. The Instructor and Coordinator teaches the equivalent of 22 credits of graduate level public health courses per year (three semesters), both online and on-campus.
Provides instruction in public health courses Serves as instructor for online graduate public health courses Strives to stimulate learning and actively seek advancement of teaching and learning processes, particularly for the adult learner Serves as coordinator of public health practice experience for graduate students and as a faculty advisor for graduate students Engages with a variety of organizations in public health: community-based non-profits, local/state governments, healthcare organizations, etc. to build collaborative relationships to support service and scholarship opportunities for students and faculty Works collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff reviewing curriculum needs and offerings to support ongoing program assessment and evaluation Participates in service activities to benefit the students, faculty and staff of the University; Provides scholarship resulting in conference presentations, publishable manuscripts, or peer-reviewed instructional materials Represents the MPH program and School of Arts & Sciences at University events and meetings when needed Serves on Department, School, and University committees Participates in Open House or other University-wide student recruitment events, as needed
Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Dean of Arts and Sciences.
Required: Minimum of a Master?s degree in healthcare education or related field. Doctorate preferred, earned or in progress Minimum of three years? experience in higher education and/or healthcare management/education Minimum of three years full or part-time teaching experience, preferably including both online and classroom-based teaching Minimum of three years of public health field and/or research experience Ability to deal with multiple constituencies?students, faculty, and staff, and external partners Ability to proactively and constructively work with a variety of situations and people Knowledge of best curriculum and teaching practices. Excellent written and oral skills, including presentation skills as needed Strong innovative and collaborative skills Ability to work both as a member of a team and as a team leader
