Colleges of the Fenway Position Opening at Colleges of the Fenway in Boston, Massachusetts
Wentworth Institute of Technology has an immediate need for a new Chair to lead the Sciences Department. This is an exciting academic year as the Sciences Department will introduce a new BS in Applied Sciences degree. It is also the second year of the new BS in Biological Engineering, a collaborative program managed jointly by the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering and Technology. Both these programs demonstrate a commitment to life sciences by the university. Perhaps the biggest evidence of this commitment is the new Engineering, Sciences and Innovation building that will house 21 new engineering and sciences labs. This $55M facility is nearing completion and will be ready for students in January, 2019. The department is also known for innovative work with undergraduate students on research projects in all the Sciences disciplines. The new chair?s duties will include: ? Provide leadership and vision for the Sciences Department which includes highly-skilled faculty in Physics, Biology and Chemistry. ? Aid in developing curriculum and implementing multi-disciplinary projects. ? Complete faculty annual reviews. ? Oversee accreditation reviews. ? Develop departmental strategic plan including assessment. ? Work with internal and external constituencies including a departmental Industry Professional Advisory Committee (IPAC.) The Department Chair is recommended by a faculty search committee and appointed by the Dean of the College, normally for a five-year renewable term.
Wentworth is an AA/EEO employer. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Wentworth is a tobacco-free campus.
