Suffolk University Law Schoolinvites applications for a visiting Practitioner-in-Residence position to direct the Law School’s Immigration Clinic during the 2020-21 academic year. We seek candidates with an interest in clinical teaching and a demonstrated ability to supervise students and/or junior colleagues. At least five years of immigration law experience is required, and prior teaching experience is preferred. Applicants must be admitted or eligible for admission to the Massachusetts bar by August 2020. Please see rules on admission on motion for those with active bar memberships in other jurisdictions for at least the past five (5) years.

The Practitioner-in-Residence position provides a unique opportunity to work within a nationally ranked Clinical Program while also offering flexibility to build a caseload that matches the successful candidate’s experience and interests. The Immigration Clinic’s current caseload consists of a small number of existing affirmative and defensive applications for asylum, SIJS, and adjustment of status. The Practitioner-in-Residence will be expected to build on this caseload to provide a well-rounded experience for the 8 students who are expected to enroll for 2020-2021.

The Immigration Clinic is one of Suffolk Law’s 12 in-house clinics. Suffolk Law’s Clinics have been ranked among the top 20 such programs in U.S. News & World Report for more than a decade.
