Job Description

The Campus School at Boston College is located in Newton, Massachusetts on the Boston College Campus within Campion Hall, the Lynch School of Education. The university setting provides access for the program to libraries including the School of Education’s Educational Resource center, the Recreation Complex state of the art swimming pool, media technology center, and an outdoor playground and leisure area. The school was founded in 1970 to provide special education and related services to students with severe multiple disabilities. The program provides student centered, educational, therapeutic, and health care services in a school-based setting to promote student growth in a stimulating environment.

Responsible for coordination and monitoring of total health care program for students with multiple disabilities including complex health care needs.

Daily administration of medications to Campus School students which includes: obtaining appropriate medical orders from parents and physicians.

Treatment of acute illnesses, specific seizure disorders, respiratory management, tube feedings, and responding to emergencies.

Provides health education and training to teachers and related services staff.

Responsible for compliance: annual physical examination including vision, hearing and dental screening, management of all necessary immunization information as required by the Department of Public Health.

Completion of health care assessments and attendance at IEP (Individual Educational Plan) meetings.

Supervises University nursing students while on their assigned clinical.

Works in collaboration with nurse practitioner consultant in developing health care procedures.

Supports the mission of the Campus School as a transdisciplinary team member.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Registered Nurse with Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years experience working in pediatric nursing with students with special health care needs preferred.
