Yours included.The Cardiac Surgery Research Laboratory comprises a multidisciplinary team of investigators involved in basic and applied research who are studying mechanisms of heart disease and new treatments for children with congenital heart defects.This Research Assistant I will be responsible for:
According to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules, performs a variety of routine laboratory experiments and procedures, utilizing standard laboratory equipment, recording and checking results for completeness and accuracy.
Performs the following techniques typically required for the laboratory/study: Mastering precise use of Standard Operating Procedures to collect human newborn, adult and elderly blood, conduct whole blood assays, isolate and cryopreserve peripheral blood mononuclear cells and autologous plasma for additional in vitro assays and conduct biomarker assays such as cytokine/chemokine multiplexing and ELISA.
Attends courses in safety procedures for handling.
Conducts literature searches and reviews, compiling information for journals and suggesting uses for new techniques to the P.I. Attends courses, lectures and conferences to further own knowledge of research and laboratory techniques, consulting with other researchers and technicians to exchange information.
Contributes to the team within and between departments and organizations.
To qualify, you must have:
Bachelor's degree in related field.
Undergraduate experience in Biology, Chemistry or Biochemistry and hands-on lab experience are required.
