Our laboratory is focused primarily on improving the understanding of the underlying genetics of neurodevelopmental disorders. We approach these questions using a combination of clinical and evolutionary methodologies including the following specific areas. First, development of new methodologies which examine mutations often missed by traditional genetic testing. Second, rigorous large-scale genetic data generation and functional testing of coding and regulatory mutations. Third, evolutionary analysis of coding and noncoding regions regulating human neural development.
We are looking for an energetic and highly organized research assistant interested in human genetics, specifically related to neurodevelopmental disorders and brain malformations.
This Research Assistant I will be responsible for:
Under general supervision, performing a variety of routine and specialized laboratory tests, specimen preparations and experimental procedures for the purpose of research.
Assisting in the use of specialized laboratory equipment.
The analysis of data generated by this equipment.
Participating in laboratory and Departmental meetings and presentations.
Immersing into both their own projects but will also work closely with a postdoctoral fellow.
Assisting other laboratory members as needed.
To qualify, you must have:
Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field.
Experience in working in a molecular biology lab.
Good problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
