Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Research Technician - Hormoz in Boston, Massachusetts

Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in life changing breakthroughs in cancer research and patient care. We are united in our mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS and related diseases. We strive to create an inclusive, diverse, and equitable environment where we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all backgrounds, and design programs to promote public health particularly among high-risk and underserved populations. We conduct groundbreaking research that advances treatment, we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers, and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.

Commonly performed tasks will include tissue culture, DNA cloning, DNA editing with CRISPR/Cas9, FACS analysis, RNA extraction, real time PCR, sequencing, and different forms of microscopy. The lab technician will also work on engineering synthetic constructs to record the lineage and molecular histories of individual cells in their own DNA. Accordingly, prior experience in molecular biology, cell biology or mammalian cell culture is helpful but not required; computational expertise and experience in coding will also be very helpful. The successful applicant will be eligible for authorship on resulting publications, including lead authorship where appropriate, and will acquire critical experience in applying cutting-edge techniques in biology to directly helping patients. This is an exciting opportunity and great preparation for anyone considering continuing to PhD, MD, or MD-PhD programs. Former research assistants from Hormoz Lab have published multiple first-author papers and are now graduate students at Princeton University, Harvard University, and Caltech.
