The Division of General Pediatrics seeks a full-time scientist to lead an innovative health services research program, including serving as the Associate Director of the new Patient Safety Research Core and to serve as Associate Director of the Harvard-wide Pediatric Health Services Research Fellowship.
As Associate Director of the Patient Safety Research Core, the candidate would work with core faculty to develop a mission, vision and goals for the new core and organize core faculty to work together to achieve these goals over the short and long term.
Goals may include such items as collaboration between researchers and health system leaders to address critical and innovative patient safety areas or increase impact of the patient safety core’s work nationally and internationally through publication, transdisciplinary multisite research, and national dissemination of findings.
As Associate Director of the Harvard-wide Pediatric Health Services Research Fellowship, the candidate would work with the Director and Faculty on teaching and mentoring of post doc PhD and clinician fellows, designing curriculum, and integrating the fellowship with other research training programs in Pediatric Health Services Research at Harvard.
Applicants may be eligible for an academic appointment at the Harvard Medical School, and would have protected time and mentorship from national leaders in pediatric health services research to pursue his/her own research.
The Harvard-wide Pediatric Health Services Research Fellowship is one of the most successful training programs of its kind in the country, having trained over 130 fellows who are now leaders in pediatrics nationwide. The new Patient Safety Research Core supports collaboration between qualitative and quantitative researchers and health system leaders to improve the quality and safety of pediatric healthcare nationally. Successful applicants will have a Ph.D. in epidemiology, health services research or related fields or a Masters, advanced nursing or pharmacy degree with experience in a similar discipline and at least 4 years of experience. They will also enjoy teaching junior physician learners, have strong organizational skills, and be interested in a collaborative multi-disciplinary research environment.
