Boston Public Schools STIPEND OPPORTUNITY: MPL Mentor (SY23-24) in Boston, Massachusetts
Stipend Opportunity: Boston Public Schools seeks mentors for our online mentoring program for the 2023-2024 School Year Reports to: Director of New Teacher Development Position Overview MPL is a virtual three-part year-long mentoring program offered to support early career teachers. Each participant is assigned an online mentor who is an experienced BPS educator. The three sessions of BPS-OM (fall, winter and spring) provide novice teachers the 50 hours of mentoring beyond the first year induction program that is an ESE requirement for professional licensure. What You’ll Do: Grade and provide feedback in Google Classroom on assignments for up to 20 MPL participants. Track participant assignment completion and communicate with participants about progress. Provide final grades and course completion data to MPL Participation Coordinator. Co-facilitate in-person Face-to-Face Sessions Establish a trusting relationship necessary for the novice teachers by honoring confidentiality standards Collaborate with other MPL mentors to determine best mentoring practices and assignments. Qualifications: We expect our MPL mentors to demonstrate academic success working with students in BPS schools, high expectations for students and teachers, and strong organizational and communication skills. Ideal candidates will have: Five full years of teaching experience Familiarity with Google Classroom Summative performance rating of Proficient or Exemplary on most recent evaluation Compensation: MPL mentors earn a stipend of $1750 for mentoring the year-long virtual course.
