Shift: Day Rotation
Hours: M-F, Rotate 9-5:30 and 10:30 to 7pm
Master's degree is required
At the direction and under the supervision of a Pathologist (s), a Pathologists' Assistant may perform the following tasks and assume the responsibility for duties including the following: Preparation, gross description and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens. Describing gross anatomic features, dissecting surgical specimens, and preparing tissues for histologic processing. Preparation of human postmortem examinations Ascertaining proper legal authorization for autopsy. Supervision and teaching of grossing techniques of biopsy specimens to pathology residents. Responsible for maintaining and updating all technical policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all standards and acceptable industry practices. Performing such administrative, budgetary, supervisory, teaching, and other duties as may be required/assigned. Requirements: Appropriate knowledge of human anatomy and physiology to conduct surgical pathology and autopsy dissections Good teaching skills for instructing pathology residents in surgical specimen dissection and laboratory techniques Knowledge of complex laboratory practices and regulations Good management skills to supervise and direct laboratory assistants Master of Health Science Pathologists' Assistant At least five years-experience as a Pathologists' Assistant.
