ASRC Federal Holding Company Supervisory Librarian in Boston, Massachusetts

Arctic Slope Mission Services (ASMS,) a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, is seeking a Supervisory Librarian to support our on-going programs at the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Boston, MA.

ASMS holds a nationwide contract for library and records management services with the EPA. ASRC librarians, records managers and support staff collect, organize and maintain library and records materials; assist EPA and external customers with document delivery, reference and research services, etc.

  • The Solo Librarian will support all aspects of daily library operations for the US Environmental Protection Agency Region 1 Library in Boston, Massachusetts, including but not limited to reference/research, document delivery/ILL, cataloging, circulation and collection development and maintenance.

  • Answer ready reference and extended reference questions using a variety of print and online resources for EPA and the public.

  • Develop lists of facilities by SIC or NAICS codes, geographic location and employee size to provide mailing, inspection and enforcement targeting tools.

  • Provide interlibrary loan and document delivery services to EPA patrons.

  • Circulate library materials using EPA Library Online Library System (OLS) module to maintain circulation records and send overdue notices.

  • Using OLS Serials module, check-in journals to update holdings, then route selected print issues and electronic Table of Contents (TOC).

  • Catalog library materials using OCLC; update local catalog records in OLS as needed.

  • Inventory library materials. Provide input for collection development policy and acquisitions.

  • Provide outreach and marketing support for the Library. Provide training to library patrons as needed particularly on EPA Library Desktop services.

  • Maintain statistics and other records to document work performed. Provide written and statistical monthly reports as required.

  • Participate in the EPA Library Network via teleconference, library workgroups, etc.

Requirements :

  • Master's Degree in Library Science or Information Management from an ALA-accredited institution and a minimum of two years work experience in a library.

  • Familiarity with information technology as related to library services.

  • Expertise in searching print and online resources; familiarity with the environmental literature and ability to search chemical, technical, business and legal literature is a plus.

  • Experience with OCLC for interlibrary loan and copy cataloging.

  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and office applications. Familiarity with Lotus Notes is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.

  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication abilities.

  • Excellent attention to detail.
