The Teacher will be responsible for:Overseeing the welfare, health and safety of the children in the group. Responsible for insuring that all adults carry out Center policies regarding the safety and well‑being of children. Preparing healthy snacks, feeds and diapers children.Working with teaching team to plan age appropriate daily activities, classroom routines and classroom design.Conducting daily activities. Preparing and selecting appropriate materials, and helps to foster and facilitate play between children.Developing trusting relationships with children. Reporting to team unusual or extreme behavior which may indicate emotional, developmental or physical problems. Helping to plan and implement interventions for children with extra needs.Developing partnerships with parents and educates families on child development issues. Conducting yearly conferences with parents and arranges for additional parent conferences as needed. Maintaining confidentiality in matters pertaining to the status, development and finances of individual children and families.Communicating daily with parents about children's activities, and enforces Centering policies when necessary. Making frequent informal observations of children's progress and shares them with teaching team.Preparing written progress reports on each child every six months. Infant groups every 3 months.Working individually and as a team to bring about a positive learning and work environment. Attending appropriate staff meetings, parent functions, advisory meetings and 20 hours of required in‑service training.Assuming responsibility for the leadership of the team, daily classroom activities and parent communication in the absence of the lead teacher.Opening or closing the Center as needed; and assuming responsibility for Center at the beginning or end of the day in the absence of lead teacher or Director.
