Brockton Hospital Nursing Simulation Laboratory Coordinator in Brockton, Massachusetts

Purpose of Position

General Summary:

Under general supervision of the Dean participates in the overall operation of the Clinical Simulation Lab.

Essential Job Function:

In conjunction with the Dean and other simulation faculty, participates in identifying, establishing and evaluating goals and plans for the Clinical Simulation Lab and related resources.

Plans, conducts and evaluates students’ Simulation Lab experiences.

Develops, produces and sets up lab modules and simulations for student instruction.

Participates in the development of various learning materials to enhance student learning.

Collaborates with Dean and other simulation faculty to obtain various educational resources for the Clinical Simulation Lab and library such as software, videos, audio programs and laboratory equipment and supplies.

Provides remediation to students who are referred to the Clinical Simulation Lab by faculty.

Maintains student records such as those noting attendance, achievement of required competencies, and any areas indicating a student’s need for continued practice and improvement.

In conjunction with the Dean and other simulation faculty, evaluates nursing simulation and computers resources and services and prepares reports as requested.

Contributes to an organized, appealing environment in the Clinical Simulation Lab to enhance student learning.

Develops and implements laboratory policies and procedures based on best available evidence.

Develops and maintains current inventory of Clinical Simulation Lab equipment.

Participates in scheduling and coordinating all Clinical Simulation Lab activities.

Participates in projecting Clinical Simulation Laboratory equipment needs.

Participates in reporting the annual expenditures of the laboratory to the Dean.

Maintains statistics of student usage of laboratory and resources.

Participates in coordinating scheduling of all simulations.

Provides orientation and ongoing training for faculty and staff in the utilization of simulator equipment, scenario development and programming, and updates related to simulation education.

Provides faculty with instructional tools and technical or administrative support to carry out simulator sessions, including setting up simulator and room, preparing educational material for the course and collecting feedback from students.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform other related duties as required.

Skills/Experience/Training Required:

A master’s degree in nursing, with emphasis on nursing education, knowledge of educational technology, and one to three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Competency with nursing skills, nursing education, and nursing simulation .

Demonstrated knowledge and skills of various computer software programs used in the nursing education and nursing simulation.

Current Licensure to practice professional nursing in Massachusetts.

Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks. ï‚· Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. ï‚· Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff and others.
