The Upper Division After-School Teacher reports to the Director of After-School Operations & After-School Program Coordinator. This 10-month position comes with the responsibility of teaching in the After School Program in support of the school’s mission. The hours are 2:00-6:00 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 1:00-6:00 on Wednesday and 11:00-6:00 on Friday. The ideal candidate will bring a history of collaborative, self-directed work as well as a good sense of humor and flexibility.
In addition to outstanding teaching ability, the position requires expertise with the social and emotional needs of this age group and the ability to balance the encouragement of academic excellence and intellectual growth with the importance of learning through play.
Roles & Responsibilities
Begin at 2:00 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 1:00 on Wednesday, and 11:00 on Friday.
From 3:00 until 4:30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday proctor UD Study Hall then transition to UD ASP from 4:30 -6:00
Plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate lessons and activities for ASP students.
Guide students in their social-emotional development, maintaining expectations and support for positive and productive student behavior.
Actively engage and interact with ASP students
Assure the safety and well-being of ASP students at all times
Regularly communicate with families, colleagues, and administrators regarding student’s development at ASP
Provide homework support when needed
Qualifications
● High School Diploma or GED Required
● Bachelor's Degree preferred
● Experience teaching
● Demonstrate commitment to providing support to students and families from diverse cultures and b ackgrounds
● Design, organize and implement daily age appropriate activities
● Experience in classroom management
● Demonstrate flexibility in day to day schedule
● Experience communicating with parents, colleagues and administrators
