Job Description:

Ambulatory Central Educator

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager of the Center for Clinical/Professional Development and in collaboration with the Associate Chief Nursing Officer Professional Development, & Emergency Services the educator works alongside the members of the Center for Clinical/Professional Development. The Educator:

  • Promotes excellence in nursing practice by providing expert education and instruction regarding nursing care to patients and functions as a clinical/educational resource to nursing staff.

  • Supports the nursing staff through orientation programs such as Nursing Assistants Orientation, Patient Care Companions Orientation, Nurse Student Placement, RN Orientation, Newly Licensed Nurse Orientation, Nurse Residency, and Nurse Fellowship.

  • Develops competencies and education related to changes in policies, process/workflow and new devices while incorporating the nurse-patient/family relationship, continuity of care and accountability that are central to the delivery of individualized high quality patient care.

  • Facilitates the coordination of care across the continuum and demonstrates safe practice within the domains of: Clinical judgment and decision making, Nurse-patient/family relationship, Clinical leadership and Clinical scholarship

  • Maintains a current level of knowledge and skill with clinical procedures as defined by nursing specialty organizations, complies with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies and is currently licensed in the state of Massachusetts as a registered nurse.

  • Collaborates with all disciplines to improve patient care and outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Master of Science, Nursing or equivalent advanced degree in health related field preferred,

Licensure, Certification & Registration : Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or (ACLS) instructor certification.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Requires knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through completion of Board of Registration approved nursing education program located within the United States or as certified by the Commission of Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse.

Experience: 5 years current, relevant nursing experience is required. An additional 1-3 years of training and education experience is required, preferrably in a healthcare setting.
