Clinical Nurse Educator Operating RoomLahey Hospital & Medical Center is looking for an exceptional Operating Room Clinical Nurse Educator to partner with our current Operating Room Clinical Nurse Educator with expertise in onboarding new staff and providing educational support to complete required clinical competencies. The opportunity is truly a position that would propel any professional to the top of the class in terms of experience and reputation. We utilize cutting edge technology within multiple surgical specialties in our 22 ORs. Our surgical specialties include Cardiothoracic, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic, Urology, and Robotics along with the largest live donor liver transplant program in the U.S.
The Operating Room Clinical Educator Team:-Improves nursing practice by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient outcomes and standards of care.- Works with Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager and staff nurses to plan, implement and evaluate changes in practice on each unit.- Develops unit-based standards of practice/protocols, which are compatible with the philosophy and goals of the Nursing Department.- Educates nurses about standards of practice/protocols.-. Coordinates and implements unit based nursing education on new or revised policies, procedures, products and equipment.- Participates in hospital and nursing committees- Develops and monitors continuous improvement initiatives on the unit.- Assures maintenance of educational files, bulletin boards and literary resources for the unit -Oversees the Periop AORN Training program that is run twice a year.We are looking for a Operating Room Clinical Nurse Educator who is on top of their game in terms of advanced thinking, partnering with internal stakeholders and utilizing modern teaching methods to make the Perioperative staff and the system successful in delivery of care. The Nurse Educator will be working with a fantastic team who pride themselves in being the most progressive in what they do.
Education: Master of Science, Nursing or equivalent advanced degree in health related field preferred, or be willing to enroll in a Masters program.
Licensure, Certification & Registration: Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or (ACLS) instructor certification.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Requires knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through completion of Board of Registration approved nursing education program located within the United States or as certified by the Commission of Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse.
Experience: 5 years current, relevant nursing experience is required. An additional 1-3 years of training and education experience is required, preferrably in a healthcare setting
