Tufts Medicine Education Specialist II, Front-End Rev Cycle in Burlington, Massachusetts

May need to come on-site up to 30% of the time at any of the Tufts Medicine locations in MA as required to meet business needs.
The Education Specialist II role serves under the umbrella of the Operational Strategy and Optimization (“OSO”) pillar of the Tufts Medicine Revenue Cycle. In conjunction with the Education Program Developer the Education Specialist II ensures a strong educational program that supports all Revenue Cycle functions and that regular course offerings, training support, and materials are provided and executed professionally, efficiently, and effectively.
Responsibilities
The Education Specialist II position may be assigned focus in one or a combination of the following applications related to Revenue Cycle operations; namely, but not limited to, the following Epic applications and other areas of OSO-supported operations. Requires in-depth knowledge as applies: Cadence, Referral Management, Prelude, Real-Time Eligibility (“RTE”), Health Information Management Operations [Birth Registrar | Release of Information (“ROI”) | Identity Management | Scanning Operations | Transcription | Chart Deficiency Management | Inpatient/ Outpatient/ Emergency Department Coding], Document Management, Faxing Operations, Revenue Integrity Charge Capture, Hospital Billing (“HB”) | Single Business Office Billing (“SBO”) | Professional Billing (“PB”), and Epic Cogito Analytics/ Reporting.
Possess a strong understanding of Epic and Revenue Cycle systems across Tufts Medicine
Facilitates regular training course offerings serving as the lead instructor or co-instructor
Serves as a workflow subject matter expert (“SME”) for dedicated area(s) of focus
Translates findings from classes, support sessions, and/ or meetings into concise recommendations for educational enhancements; differentiates between curriculum improvement, system build limitations, and/ or access requirement opportunities
Maintains data integrity within the Learning Management System (“LMS”) and administrative pre- and post-course processes
Responsible for providing curriculum maintenance support including inventory, drafting, formatting, testing, and validation of new materials/ enhancement of existing materials
Participates in regular meetings with the Educational and Professional Development team and serves as an OSO Education representative to support the alignment of planned changes and curriculum
Support a hybrid setting role; role is primarily remote, however must be willing to travel to Tufts Medicine and/ or otherwise indicated location regularly per Department-issued schedule to facilitate training courses and/ or ATE support and/ or otherwise to meet current business needs of the organization
Willing to support occasional off-hours support if exception-based circumstance requires
Experience
Undergraduate degree in education, healthcare, or transferrable field
Current Epic certification(s) and/or appropriate certifications as defined by role or must obtain appropriate certification(s) within 30 days of scheduled class date; must maintain active certifications; Must pass internal credentialing process
Existing Epic Certification in Cadence, Prelude, Referrals, HB/PB Resolute preferred
2 to 5+ years of related experience in an education/ training program or healthcare related field
Experience with remote learning; confident navigating Zoom presentations and breakout session functionality
Basic educational pedagogy familiarity
Basic healthcare IT knowledge: Epic knowledge and experience preferred
Knowledge and understanding of hospital revenue cycle operations including, but not limited to: scheduling, patient registration across the continuum of a patient’s experience and in various care settings, patient estimates, pre-certification/ authorization, financial counseling, pre/ point-of-service patient liability collections, referral management, middle revenue cycle operations [inpatient/ outpatient/ emergency department hospital and professional coding, health information management operations, release of information (“ROI”), medical transcription], clinical documentation integrity, utilization management (“UR”), revenue integrity [charge description master management, charge capture integrity, payment integrity, denials prevention, patient financial services [hospital billing (“HB”), single business office (“SBO”), professional billing (“PB”), claims and payment posting, denials management, payer audits, post-acute care setting operations [home health, hospice].
Experience using software for curriculum design, e-learning, LMS, video recording, screen capture, end-user surveys, live end-user polling preferred
Functional competence using Microsoft Office Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio
Experience and/ or ability to gain competence using Project Management software required
