Massachusetts Maritime Academy Part-Time Academic Advisor in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts

Duties: The Academic Resource Center at Massachusetts Maritime Academy seeks a motivated individual for the role of professional academic advisor. The individual will work prior to the start of both spring and fall semesters until the close of each semester. (Approx. Mid-August-December, Mid-February-June). The professional advisors supplement faculty advising and serve the entire student population as needed. The advisor will help students maintain satisfactory academic progress and succeed in their degree programs by providing general advising to include course selection, schedule planning, graduate plans, study skills, time management skills, as well as completing credit reviews. The advisor will be knowledgeable of campus resources and able to direct students as needed. The advisor may carry a small case-load of students on probation. Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor?s Degree in related field Experience in academic advising at the high school and/or college level Familiarity with higher education policies and procedures related to degree programs and associated curricula Ability to provide timely, accurate, and supportive advice to college students regarding academic planning Computer literacy - word, excel, power point Excellent verbal and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications Master?s Degree in related field Experience in higher education academic advising Familiarity with academic program software and advising software such as Self Service, Degree Works, etc. Understanding of the unique mission of a maritime academy
