ACADEMIC PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR, Aeronautics and Astronautics (Aero/Astro), to administer multiple aspects of AeroAstro’s graduate program and regularly interact with graduate students, their advisors, and the graduate community. Will work as part of a team with the current academic administrator and planned student services coordinator to create a friendly, welcoming, informative environment; coordinate the graduate admissions process for 1000+ SM and Ph.D. applicants yearly; create programming for graduate and undergraduate students, e.g., workshops, doctoral orientation, etc.; maintain the graduate academic and admissions web pages; oversee graduate student petitions, research evaluations, academic warnings, qualifying field evaluations, defense planning, and degree auditing; coordinate fellowships and other funding; track student progress through their programs; serve as the main administrative point of contact for students, advisors, and Graduate Committee chair; organize commencement activities; and collaborate on developing and implementing strategies to improve departmental diversity and create an inclusive and equitable community. REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; three years’ academic administration experience; excellent administrative, organizational, problem-solving, proofreading, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills; experience coordinating events; proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook; ability to identify and learn new programs/software as needed; support for MIT’s commitment to diversity and serving diverse constituents; and discretion with confidential information/issues. Must be able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, under pressure and within critical time demands; seek out root causes of issues, conceive innovative solutions, and move from concept to implementation; work independently and as part of a team; and interact effectively with people at all levels and from varied backgrounds. PREFERRED: master's degree and WebSIS and GAP experience.
