Additional Qualifications:Prior leadership experience in higher education strongly desired. Understanding of and experience with the challenges, opportunities, and leadership context of higher education administrators and faculty. Experience creating innovative and dynamic learning experiences for adults, especially higher-ed and other organizational leaders. Experience with instructional technology a plus. A successful candidate must demonstrate effective communication, collaboration and leadership skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication, organization, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Experience leading and managing within a diverse work environment and building positive and productive program cultures. The candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills and experience developing partnerships to achieve strategic institutional goals. Experience working as a team player/leader across departments; experience developing sound operational policies/procedures and administering a large budget and managing to a bottom line; and knowledge of and experience in B2B business development.

Serves as the administrative leader of the Harvard Institutes for Higher Education – a portfolio of executive education programs serving higher-education professionals for 50 years – at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Works with HGSE faculty and staff in the Professional Education department to develop and implement outstanding professional learning programs that are responsive to the needs of leaders at multiple levels of administrative responsibility in the higher education sector. Ensures that all programs are aligned with the mission, resources, and objectives of HGSE, and effectively brings the research and teaching of our faculty to professionals from across the sector to strengthen and further develop these leaders’ skills, problem-solving ability, decision-making, and efficacy in their roles.
Working closely with Faculty Educational Chairs, leads program teams (encompassing marketing, admissions, finance, and program logistics functions) in development and delivery of the HIHE portfolio. Seeks to continually innovate and build upon the success of the HIHE portfolio, through ongoing process improvement and leveraging multiple learning modalities including on-campus, customized onsite, blended, and online programs, to create and sustain professional learning communities. As a member of the program management team, contributes to organizational practices including strategic planning, market intelligence and development, and client relationship management, portfolio management, and the overall business model through which HIHE has an impact across the higher education sector. Balances focus on administrative and task-focused management of assigned programs with larger, strategic objectives and activities.
Conducts sector outreach (webinars, conferences, direct relationship-building with clients), engagement, and program alumni relations activities, ensuring that prospective and past participants have ongoing connection to each other and HGSE. Collaborates with marketing and admissions staff to develop, execute, and assess marketing campaigns and admissions processes for multiple higher education audiences. Identifies opportunities and develops plans for new programs that strengthen the higher education portfolio and its impact on higher education leaders, faculty, and other stakeholders in the sector. Works with Faculty Educational Chairs to develop program learning objectives and descriptions and helps to determine the characteristics of target audiences.
Works on School and University-wide committees, task forces, and special projects as assigned.
This is a two-year term position, with the possibility of renewal.
