    Job Description

ASSISTANT DEAN FOR STUDENT SUPPORT AND ADVISING, Office of Graduate Education (OGE), to assume primary responsibility for providing information, guidance, advice, advocacy, and referral to graduate students; serving as a liaison to departments and other offices that serve graduate students; and supporting graduate student-centered activities and programs. Will provide guidance and coaching to graduate students on matters related to academic and personal well-being and work in consultation with medical and counseling services and other appropriate offices to support students and/or refer them to appropriate resources; facilitate the process for graduate student voluntary leaves of absence, oversee the student return from leave process, and coordinate support for returning students; serve as a liaison to department faculty and administrators on matters of graduate policies and procedures; contribute to the development of protocols, programs, and procedures; and provide advice to the community on issues that impact the graduate student experience.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: master’s degree, preferably with specific training and experience in counseling or student affairs at the graduate level; at least four years of experience in a university environment; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills; ability to set priorities, take initiative, manage multiple demands in a busy office, work creatively with institutional policies and apply sound judgment when dealing with administrative issues, and work effectively with diverse populations.
