Job Description
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, MIT-WELLESLEY UPWARD BOUND PROGRAM, Office of the Provost, to report to and be responsible for assisting the Upward Bound director wth the planning, implementation, and evaluation of program services and for the development and implementation of all educational support services of the program. Responsibilities will include assisting the director with the administration of the program; assisting with the development and implementation of program services and activities that enhance the educational growth of disadvantaged students; assisting with the selection and supervision of seasonal educational staff; assessing the academic needs of program participants; developing student educational assistance plans and student monitoring and evaluation measures; conducting academic advisement activities and maintaining appropriate case data; assisting with the development of curricula and materials selection for the instructional components of the program; planning, coordinating, and implementing educational activities and field trips; providing classroom instruction as necessary; maintaining a network of ancillary support through interaction with target high schools and various community agencies; and assisting with the evaluation of the program.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in education or a related field; at least two years of administrative experience in education or human services; at least two years of experience teaching in an urban setting or working with high school students/youth services programming; experience with standardized testing, curricula development/coordination, and academic advising; and concern for and understanding of the educational needs/challenges of low income, first-generation, disabled, and under-represented students and their families. PREFERRED: master’s degree and familiarity with the human services delivery network of Cambridge. Job #22766-6Evening and weekend work and summer residence at Wellesley College is required. 5/19/23
