ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, Concourse, to be responsible for the administrative oversight and coordination of the Concourse (http://concourse.mit.edu/) program and related teaching and advising duties. Will take a leadership role in and provide functional support for all aspects of the program, including academic, financial, personnel, event planning, recruitment, publicity, and alumni relations’ support. Responsibilities include collaborating with and advising the director in all matters and serving as a proxy for the director in her absence; overseeing all aspects of Concourse financial administration (e.g., preparing budgets in coordination with the director, reconciliation, expenditure management, payroll, and staff and TA appointments), academic administration (e.g., curriculum coordination, course scheduling, liaising with the Committed on Curriculum, and providing TA training), student program (e.g., recruitment; student activities, student advising in areas of academic, career, and life choices; and managing Concourse community space), HR matters (e.g., staff and student appointments and liaising with the Office of the Vice Chancellor’s Director of Human Resources), and alumni development (e.g., planning alumni events, producing development materials, and overseeing outreach programs); participating fully in the intellectual mission of the weekly Friday Seminar in conjunction with the director and other academic staff; developing and leading one co-curricular reading group/optional seminar in area of academic expertise; and serving as the primary first-year academic advisor for a maximum of ten advisees.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree and at least two years of educational administration experience. PREFERRED: professional background in a humanistic or arts-related discipline. Job #22717-7Hiring range: $62,000 – 75,0005/8/23
