Position Description

The Department of Immunology at Harvard Medical School invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek an outstanding scientist performing basic and/or translational research in any area of innate or adaptive immunology.

Department faculty have diverse backgrounds and interests in understanding basic mechanisms of immunity and their roles in health and disease. Our areas of research include autoimmunity and tolerance, cancer immunology, infection and immunity, mucosal immunology, neuroimmunology, and systems immunology. We offer a family-friendly and supportive environment in which to perform innovative research, with the benefit of significant scientific and scholarly resources. Our Department has strong ties to related departments throughout Harvard University, Harvard-affiliated teaching hospitals, and the Boston biomedical community. The Department encourages team science, entrepreneurship, and innovation. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to teach and mentor exceptional graduate and medical students. We consider it a core mission to educate and facilitate the growth of the next generation of immunologists with diverse backgrounds and interests. Laboratory space will be located in a central research building on the Harvard Medical School campus.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must have a PhD, MD, or an equivalent graduate degree.

Please submit (1) a cover letter; (2) a CV; (3) a concise summary of your most significant research accomplishments (one half page); (4) an explanation of why you have chosen your area of focus (one half page); and (5) a description of your future research interests. Section 5 should describe your plans for the initial focus of your lab as well as your long-term vision (3 pages + 1 page figures). After you submit your application, three letters of recommendation will be requested on your behalf.
