Responsibilities

The Education, Learning, and Training Specialist/Curriculum Developer will work as part of a team to design and develop a variety of educational and assessment materials aligned with Transportation Safety. The position will require creative and strategic skills, as well as increased resourcefulness, the ability to collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment, and the ability to share in the collective team vision. The Education, Learning, and Training Specialist will be the liaison between client and technical teams and drive innovative solutions, leveraging best practices and practical education, learning, and training practices.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Perform education-based need assessments to determine necessary requirements for delivering proper education

  • Contribute to Education, Learning, and Training (ELT) planning and scoping for new projects

  • Design and develop training curriculum and content for end-users, including self-paced, web-based, and/or instructor led and Interactive Distance Learning (IDL) training, utilizing educational materials such as:

  • Exercises

  • Capstone materials

  • Case studies

  • Tutorials for various training topics

  • Demonstrate proficiencies in one or more of the following applications: Adobe Connect, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia

  • Use style and procedure guides to ensure consistency across content

  • Collaborate and proactively engage with teammates and cross-functional teams to effectively translate highly technical language into language end-users can easily understand and digest

  • Serve as a liaison between the project technical teams, communications team, and training and education team to ensure fluidity, collaboration, and coordination

  • Review and provide feedback on assessment items and instructional support material

    Required Skills, Education, Certifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the functional specialties and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, or;

  • Master’s degree in one of the functional specialties and a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience, or;

  • Eight (8) years of relevant experience

  • Experience using one or more of the following applications: Adobe Connect, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia

  • Demonstrates a commitment to delivering high-quality holistic education, learning, and training materials and possesses a passion for doing so

  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and influencer skills

  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and critically

  • Effective communication skills (verbal & written) with external clients and internal teams

  • Experience presenting, delivering training, and public speaking

  • Self-motivated, and flexible with willingness to learn

  • Experience working under minimal supervision or with uncertainty

  • Strong sense of accountability and willingness to take ownership of projects

  • Proven experience managing stakeholder expectations to meet critical deadlines

  • Ability to manage and keep track of multiple tasks across different projects

    Preferred:

  • 3+ years of experience in at least one aspect of training design, development, or delivery

  • 5+ years of experience in curriculum and assessment writing

  • Understanding of the adult learning principles

  • Transportation experience is nice to have

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods; Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must be able to lift 20 lbs or greater.
