As the Administrative Dean you will:

  • Promote and foster an inclusive community and standards for which the School aspires to.

  • Oversee the School’s financial portfolio while making strategic investments in people, projects, and facilities.

  • Conduct long-range planning for administrative services and capital projects.

  • Guide the overall campus operations strategy including significant capital projects, facilities enhancements and maintenance, and the management and usage of HLS facilities and physical assets.

  • Guide HLS’ human resources management, ensuring the School continues to attract, develop, and retain the best employees.

  • Oversee the information technology systems and infrastructure, ensuring faculty, students, and staff have access to IT services that are flexible and responsive.

  • Actively participate and may chair a variety of school and university wide committees.

The Dean for Administration (Ad Dean) reports directly to the Harvard Law School (HLS) Dean and is the School’s chief administrative officer. This key leadership position is responsible for the general oversight and management of all administrative functions, including facilities, faculty support services, finance, human resources, information technology, and other business operations. The Ad Dean serves as a trusted advisor to the Dean and works closely with him to plan and manage the School’s strategic initiatives and develop its short and long-term financial and operational plans. The Ad Dean also works closely with Harvard’s central administration and other senior leaders across the University and affiliated organizations.
