DIGITAL PUBLICATION SPECIALIST, Office of Digital Learning-OpenCourseWare (OCW), to plan and build digital course sites for publication on OCW and other MIT Open Learning platforms. A primary component of the position will be to establish and maintain strong working relationships with faculty and staff. Responsibilities will include researching the curriculum in assigned MIT departments; determining which courses to recruit for publication; reviewing, organizing, and processing digital course materials; identifying and clearing rights to intellectual property within course materials; coordinating with video production teams to record, review, and edit video resources; hiring and managing student contract workers to capture or improve course content; building course sites in customized content management system (CMS) based upon established OCW standards and templates; performing quality control reviews on draft course sites and all other materials prior to publication; and coordinating with other OCW team members and other MIT Open Learning colleagues.
REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree, ability to communicate effectively with a diverse community of faculty and staff, excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to manage and follow through on complex projects, meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, aptitude for learning new software applications and work methods, and knowledge of standard desktop applications. Skill with website authoring technology, familiarity with video production (please note that this is not a hands-on video production position), a background in disciplines which are MIT strengths (e.g., engineering, computer science, cognitive science, architecture), experience using online courses and open educational resources, and some familiarity with MIT culture and curriculum are all desirable.
