The Engineering Learning team is growing and Akamai is looking for an experienced Documentation and Training Specialist to help plan, analyze, design, develop, deploy and evaluate learning materials that provide new engineers with the information they need to understand the development environment and employ best practices.
As a Documentation and Training Specialist, you will be responsible for:
Collaborates with members of the Engineering Learning team to determine training needs, design proposed solutions, and develop training programs to meet the needs of the engineering function.
Design and develop learning content using instructional design strategies in a variety of methods including instructor-led, web-based and virtual training
Under guidance from Manager or Lead Instructional Designer, designs technical training programs, including online courses, instructor-led courses, and interactive labs and workshops directed at the Akamai Engineering community.
Collaborates with Subject Matter Experts to identify what students need to learn.
Develops objectives and ensures content matches those objectives.
Provides learning activities and strategies that will engage and motivate the learner to further develop knowledge and skills.
Develops course content from scratch.
Manages content review process, validating learning objectives and course effectiveness.
Develops subject matter expertise in assigned technical area and maintains in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of subject matter.
About the Team
The Engineering Learning team produces documentation and training materials that provide engineers with the information they need to quickly acclimate to the Akamai development environment and maintain the highest standards of quality when designing and building highly reliable and scalable systems.
Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or
Relevant experience and a Master’s degree or PhD
Minimum of 2+ years instructional design experience.
Minimum of 2+ years of overall experience in an Engineering organization.
Minimum of 2+ years of experience developing technical trainings and labs
Concrete knowledge of Instructional Design theories and practices
Experience applying adult learning principles as well as the ability to recognize and adapt to different learning styles.
Experience with Graphic Design
Expertise with Articulate 360 Suite
Exposure to software development, coding, and scripting.
Efficient and comfortable in interacting with geographically diverse subject matter experts and project team
Knowledge of Google Apps (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Forms)
