GRADUATE PROGRAM ASSISTANT, Economics, to support the administrative functions of the Graduate Program and the department of Economics. Will provide a wide variety of high-level administrative and financial support; create, update, and maintain the program’s filing system and databases; compose and/or prepare correspondence; prepare for meetings, including taking notes and providing materials; provide support--under the graduate administrator’s guidance--for faculty members with regard to the logistics involved in junior faculty hiring, students’ job placement, and the admissions and recruitment processes; organize and manage departmental activities and events, including coordinating with students/faculty/staff; process hourly student payroll and travel and reimbursement expenses; administer the purchasing card system; handle weekly ordering of office supplies and production of the annual departmental brochure; and provide support for special projects as assigned. Will report directly to the graduate administrator and work closely with all members of the faculty.
REQUIRED: a high school diploma or its equivalent, at least five years of administrative, office, or related experience; advanced computer software skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and meticulous attention to detail. A bachelor’s degree and experience with SAP, FileMaker, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred. Job# 17893-6
Must be able to travel once per year for the department’s annual conference as needed.
