Health Fitness Professional
HealthFitness has a new full-time opportunity (30-40 hours per week, benefits eligible) for a Health Fitness Professional within our Harvard Recreation program located on campus in Cambridge, MA. In this position, you will be responsible for providing individual and group exercise, conducting fitness assessments and equipment orientations, one-on-one personal training and educating our members. You will also have the opportunity to assist the Fitness Coordinator and Marketing Coordinator with variour fitness-related projects.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist Fitness Coordinator with maintenance of all fitness equipment and quickly communicate any issues to proper equipment vendor (NEFD, Full Circle Padding, etc.).
Provide individual and group fitness instruction; educate participants on proper techniques to maximize exercise safety and effectiveness.
Conduct fitness assessments and equipment orientations, one-on-one exercise programming (personal training) and provide education to members.
Assists Fitness Coordinator with continuing education opportunities for Personal Training Staff.
Open/close facilities as needed and maintain safety and cleanliness of the facilities.
Assist with the development and/or delivery of a variety of HealthFitness and program-specific health improvement programs & promotions.
Assist in the creation and maintenance of bulletin boards, newsletters and other marketing & communication materials with direction from the Marketing Coordinator, Program Manager and Fitness Coordinator.
Supervise the fitness floor to build member relationships and monitor safety.
Act as a facility “Manager-on-Duty” as scheduled by the General Manager; typically once weekly until 7pm, and one monthly weekend shift.
Other duties as needed/assigned.
Education, Experience & Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a fitness related field (Kinesiology, Exercise Science, etc.) or the equivalent combination of education, experience and certifications.
Current CPR/AED or BLS certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute.
Personal Training certification from ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NASM or NSCA.
Proficiency in fitness assessment and exercise prescription.
Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
Competency in the delivery of HealthFitness and site-specific programs and services.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including at minimum Word, Excel and Outlook.
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative and creativity.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment.
Experience instructing group exercise classes (Cycle, Boot Camp, Total Body Conditioning, Zumba, Yoga, etc.).
Industry recognized Group Exercise certification.
