INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY (IP) COORDINATOR, Open Learning, to evaluate third-party content identified by MIT faculty within their published online course materials for compliance with IP guidelines for MITx and OpenCourseWare (OCW). Will provide training to faculty and associated staff in copyright, fair-use, and use of openly licensed materials; maintain related IP databases and applications. MITx-relate responsibilities (80%) include evaluating course material of MITx MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) for third-party content; managing the IP clearance of MITx MOOCs using the MITx course management system; training MITx course teams about copyright and fair use based on the MITx IP policy guide and use of the MITx CMS and IP portal application; and updating MITx IP documentation, including copyright guides regarding attribution, license requests, and permission request opportunities. OCW-related duties (20%) will include processing permission requests for third party-content within OCW courses; maintaining the OCW IP database listing content owned by third parties; and addressing questions from OCW staff and MIT faculty regarding copyright, fair use, and open access content.
