Position Description

The Department of Celtic Languages and Literatures seeks applications for a Lecturer in Celtic Studies. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2024. The Lecturer will be teaching four undergraduate courses in the field during the 2024-25 academic year. We are especially interested in applicants who could offer, among other courses, an advanced Modern Irish course or courses. The position is for one year.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate in Celtic Studies or a related field, is required by the expected start date.

Additional Qualifications

Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching is desirable.

· A cover letter describing your experience and interest in the position to which you are applying.

· A list of proposed courses accompanied by brief descriptions (three or four sentences) of each course.

· A curriculum vitae.

· A teaching statement describing your teaching philosophy, goals, methods, and prior teaching experience.

· Names and contact information of three to five referees, who will be asked by a system-generated email to upload a letter of recommendation once the candidate’s application has been submitted. Three letters of recommendation are required, and the application is considered complete only when at least three letters have been received.

· Applicable only for those candidates who have not yet received the Ph.D.: A letter from your advisor confirming that you will receive your Ph.D. by the expected start date. (Under “Other” in optional materials to submit.)
