    Job Description

LECTURER, Chemical Engineering (ChemE), to conduct residential and online teaching activities for major graduate/undergraduate courses, including 10.50 - Analysis of Transport Phenomena, 10.34 - Numerical Methods Applied to Chemical Engineering, 10.213 - Chemical and Biological Engineering Thermodynamics, 10.10 - Introduction to Chemical Engineering, 10.40 - Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, and Operate Chemical Engineering Practice School stations as Station Director as required (10.80–10.87). Will support faculty efforts towards hybrid educational methods by teaching and developing content for one or more existing ChemE and Digital Learning Lab (DLL) courses; conduct conventional teaching and course development for core graduate/undergraduate courses; participate in writing textbooks on applied math for engineering; develop expertise in the latest education research and cognitive science related to the digital learning environment; keep abreast of advances in digital learning tools for engineering and mathematics; develop and apply new pedagogical innovations in digital learning; develop expertise in teaching and running courses in an online environment; evaluate the effectiveness of online courses and pedagogical approaches; work with faculty to implement digital learning innovations and identify new opportunities for innovations in residential ChemE subjects or other departmental programs; advise faculty and course teams on matters related to digital education technology, digital media for education, blended learning, and remote instruction; identify and promote best practices for online course development; and present findings and innovations and national/international conferences.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in chemical engineering or related field by start of employment; at least four years’ related university-level teaching experience, which may be obtained during graduate studies; demonstrated excellence in teaching; and experience as an instructional designer or course developer.
