LECTURER, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) (multiple positions), to serve as a lecturer on discrete mathematics, algorithms, and machine learning. Will participate in educational activities during the fall and spring terms and the January Independent Activities Period (IAP). Responsibilities will include interacting with students (e.g., lecturing, leading recitations, staffing labs, holding office hours, and helping with undergraduate advising); creating course content such as lecture materials, problem sets, quizzes, videos, and other on-line materials; carrying out administrative responsibilities (e.g., locating, hiring, and supervising course staff; record-keeping; interacting with staff in the department and Registrar’s Office; and performing other duties as assigned. May participate in the creation/migration of courses onto MIT's internet-based educational platforms, OCW and MITx. May also participate on departmental committees. Research opportunities such as co-supervision of undergraduate or master’s projects may also arise. Course assignment will include some of the following and may include other related courses: Introduction to Machine Learning (6.036), Machine Learning (6.867), Introduction to Algorithms (6.006), Design and Analysis of Algorithms (6.046), and Mathematics for Computer Science (6.042).
REQUIRED: a Ph.D. in topical area related to responsibilities, significant experience teaching related undergraduate courses, and demonstrated interest in educational innovation. Job #16740 The application deadline is December 15, 2018, but may be extended if positions are not filled. 11/2/18
