Job Description: The Education Division in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Lesley University is seeking a full-time, nine-month math educator to teach courses in elementary, middle and secondary math education as well as mathematics. We seek a faculty member whose primary identity and focus is math education. Math education courses include: Teaching Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers; Teaching Geometry, Measurement and Data; Teaching Mathematics in Grades 5-12 and Teaching Secondary Mathematics: Exploring Connections. Mathematics courses may include: Patterns and Functions (pre-calculus); Problem Solving and Linear Algebra/Differential Equations. Responsibilities of the position include: -Teaching courses for undergraduate students in math education. -Teaching courses for undergraduate students in mathematics. -Supervising student teachers. -Advising undergraduate students. -Developing teaching-research collaborations with diverse urban schools. -Contributing to the development of inclusive curriculum and the cultural competence of Lesley students. -Participating in program development, assessment, and review in the Division. -Serving on appropriate college and university committees and participating in recruitment and other Division activities. Requirements: -Must have an earned doctorate in mathematics education or curriculum and instruction with a focus in mathematics education or a PhD. in mathematics with a focus on math education by June 30, 2020. -Dissertation focus related to mathematics education or significant experience as a math educator. -Evidence of potential scholarship. -Strong knowledge-base in the area of elementary, middle and secondary math education curriculum and curriculum theory. -Ability to teach introductory and intermediate college-level courses in mathematics. -Two years of teaching experience at the middle or secondary level in the United States. -Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. -Must be authorized to work in the United States; if you hold a visa, your visa status must allow you to work at Lesley University. Preferred Qualifications: -Experience teaching at the college level. Additional Information: Compensation commensurate with experience. Background checks are required for all positions.
