ONLINE LEARNING ACCESSIBILITY COORDINATOR, MIT Open Learning (OL), to facilitate and support the digital accessibility program for MIT open, online courses. Will work under the direction of the program manager and be responsible for a variety of tasks and services that support course development teams and global learners with disabilities enrolled in a worldwide, online portfolio of courses. Responsibilties will include evaluating courses for accessibility based on Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Universal Design for Learning principles and writing instructional documentation; training instructors in accessible techniques; facilitating Open Learning’s individualized accommodation process for learners with disabilities; and tracking the detail of course accessibility and learner requests. Job Requirements
REQUIRED: four-year degree; at least two years of experience with digital accessibility, assistive technology, disability services, online learning, or higher education instruction; knowledge of standard web markup languages and best practices (HTML/XML/CSS) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) applicable to them; excellent communication skills and desire to collaborate and communicate effectively with diverse teams; comfort working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative and growing environment; discretion and judgment with confidential information/issues; an interest in making online instruction accessible and in learning new skills; ability to manage multiple demands concurrently and communicate transparently and effectively with various teams and stakeholders; and demonstrated attention to detail.
