OLFs provide basic technical facilitation to students, faculty member(s), and the scribe during class sessions. OLFs are responsible for managing the Zoom platform, including serving as host for the Zoom session, managing class participation traffic, sharing documents or videos with students, polls, guest instructions, setting up and monitoring break out rooms as necessary, and providing support to the students and faculty to ensure the discussions flow smoothly.

The OLF will need to be able to multi-task in a calm and collected manner, students and faculty themselves may be uncomfortable with this mode of course delivery and will need support. The OLF must be able to use resources and skills swiftly and efficiently if something does go wrong. Although there will be technical support available during classes, the OLF is the first line of support and is expected to keep the class moving as smoothly as possible.
