POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Mechanical Engineering, to perform cutting-edge research on projects centered around artificial intelligence and machine learning methods for engineering design in the Design Computation and Digital Engineering (DeCoDE) Laboratory (https://decode.mit.edu/) at MIT under the guidance of Dr. Faez Ahmed. Will be responsible for researching, designing, and developing novel computational models, algorithms, and innovative applications to process data to solve real-world problems in the engineering design domain. Will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to deliver results, adaptability, work on research proposals, and collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
REQUIRED: a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, applied math, computer science, or related field; research experience in machine-learning/AI algorithm development in any research area; proficiency with programming methods such as Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and Julia; a strong publication record in your field of study; self-motivation and demonstrated ability to conduct independent research; strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills. Domain knowledge within modeling of engineering design problems is not required, but the ability to transfer knowledge to engineering design problems is expected.
