Posting Description
POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Civil and Environmental Engineering, based in the Howland Lab, to work on a project that will use a synergistic combination of large eddy simulation (LES), numerical weather predictions (NWP), and novel, fast-running engineering models to unlock innovations in wind farm wake modeling to accelerate the clean energy transition. Will join a collaborative group of Postdoctoral, PhD, SM, MEng, and undergraduate researchers in the Howland Lab and MIT Parsons Laboratory and be encouraged to participate in the MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), the MIT Climate Project, and in the flagship MIT Climate Grand Challenge project “Preparing for a new world of weather and climate extremes,” a project which is jointly investigated by the Howland Lab; and avail of professional development opportunities, including collaborations on other research projects and mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Ph.D. in Mechanical engineering, Civil and Environmental engineering, or a related field; knowledge of and demonstrated skillset in fluid mechanics, wind energy, aerodynamics, boundary layer meteorology, machine learning, optimization, computer programming, high performance computing, data analysis, and technical writing; ability to work and communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary research team; track record of publications and scientific output; ability to work independently; and exceptional organizational, analytical, and writing skills.
