Position Description

Dr. Patricia Geli of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is seeking a highly-motivated and capable postdoctoral researcher with an interest in inter-disciplinary quantitative research. The successful candidate will work on research related to global hygiene and its role in infectious disease prevention and control efforts.

The work will focus on designing studies to better understand the role of hygiene-related interventions in educational settings and other settings. The selected candidate will have opportunities to also be involved in work related to antimicrobial resistance and other projects related to building toolkits for pandemic preparedness and response efforts. Results of the work will inform strategies and protocols for a more resilient post-pandemic world.

The expected starting date is February 2023 or sooner. The position is based in Boston. The appointment is for a two-year period, with expected renewal for an additional year based upon satisfactory performance.

Basic Qualifications

Applicants should have a PhD/doctoral degree in public health, epidemiology, international development, statistics, mathematical statistics, or equivalent.

Candidates should have the following:

1) Record of scholarly publication in peer reviewed journals

2) Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team

3) Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills

4) Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including infectious disease modeling and study design

5) Programming in R (preferable) and/or Stata

Additional experience highly desirable:

1) Sampling methodology

2) Data collection

3) Implementation of public health interventions

4) Work with local and/or central governments
