Position Description
Natalie Slopen, ScD in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow to work on projects related to childhood experiences and cardiometabolic health in young adulthood. The postdoctoral fellow will primarily work with the Bucharest Early Intervention Project ( BEIP ), a study examining the long-term effects of foster care as an alternative to institutional care (https://www.bucharestearlyinterventionproject.org/). The position will be through Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health and the following will receive additional mentorship from other BEIP investigators based at other institutions. This position can begin at the start of the 2023 academic year, or immediately, with annual renewal possible, dependent on progress review and available funding. The postdoctoral fellow’s primary responsibilities will be related to research activities (e.g., analyze data, and write manuscripts). Applicants with a background in epidemiology or developmental psychology, with skills and interest in quantitative methods for longitudinal data and biomarkers research, are likely a good fit given the cohort and data available.
Basic Qualifications
Qualifications and Skills:
· Qualified candidates will have completed a doctoral degree in psychiatric or cardiovascular epidemiology, developmental psychology, education, sociology, or a related field;
· Specialization or demonstrated interest in the study of life course epidemiology, biomarkers of stress of aging, social determinants of child health, the childhood origins of health disparities, and/or cardiometabolic health outcomes or risk factors;
· Advanced skills in statistical analysis, including experience conducting longitudinal analyses; experience with structural equation modeling is a plus;
· Experience writing research papers for publication in peer-review journals;
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively;
· Scholars of color and individuals from other under-represented groups in academia are encouraged to apply.
