Position Description
Professor Breza is looking for a pre-doctoral researcher who can begin during summer 2023. The position is for one year with the possibility of extending for a second year. The work will involve a portfolio of projects pertaining to social and economic networks in India, with applications to health, finance, local governance and labor markets.
The pre-doctoral researcher will likely gain exposure to a range of methods such as network measurement and estimation using aggregated relational data, quasi-experimental methods, randomized experiments, structural methods, and designing empirical tests using theoretical models. The position will likely require some international travel (probably India).
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree by start date.
Additional Qualifications
A strong background in a related quantitative discipline (e.g., economics, statistics, applied math, computer science).
Programming experience (R preferred).
Econometrics coursework (or equivalent) and experience working with data.
A longer-run interest in pursuing independent economics research.
Coursework on networks a plus (not required).
The ability to speak Indian languages (Hindi, Kannada, or Bengali) and/or an interest in South Asia a plus, (not required).
