Position Description

The Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University invites applications for a full-time, multi-year Preceptor in Korean beginning July 1, 2022. This is a term appointment of three years, renewable for a term of up to five years (eight years in total), contingent on performance, enrollments, curricular need, position availability, and divisional dean authorization.

Basic Qualifications

The successful applicant should be well versed on the issues of teaching Korean as a foreign language, have experience in curriculum development in all levels of Korean, a minimum of a M.A degree, and must have native or near-native proficiency of Korean and English.

Additional Qualifications

Furthermore, multiple years of experience teaching modern Korean at the college level and a M.A. degree or a Ph.D. degree in Korean linguistics, second language acquisition, foreign language education, or a closely related field to Korean language pedagogy is highly preferred.

  4. Sample syllabus of an advanced level (3rd, 4th, or 5th year level)

  5. Names and contact information of three referees, who will be asked by a system-generated email to upload a letter of recommendation once the candidate’s application has been submitted. Three letters of recommendation are required, and the application is considered complete only when the letters have been received.
